Community Development

Murin supports community-led development across the Thamarrurr and Daly region.

Supporting community-led development

Murin supports community-led development across the Thamarrurr and Daly region. We contribute where there is a need, a gap in services, or where communities invite us to assist. Our role is practical and responsive—offering support where we can, in partnership with Traditional Owners, residents, and local organisations.

Empowering local decision-making

We focus on supporting local people to make informed decisions, strengthen planning, and pursue opportunities that improve wellbeing, infrastructure, and connection to country. Our work is grounded in cultural values and guided by the priorities of the communities we serve.

Key areas we support

Community-Led Governance

Supporting groups to establish or strengthen local governance structures, respond to emerging issues, and participate effectively in engagement processes.

Homelands Development

Providing planning support and practical coordination for housing, infrastructure, and access services that allow families to live safely on country.

Small Business and Enterprise

Assisting with business ideas, planning, grant applications, and early-stage development for community-based ventures.

Local Capacity and Projects

Helping individuals and groups develop practical projects that meet local needs, from community facilities to service delivery trials.

Caring for families and Country

Our Homeland Services work is closely connected to our development support. Improvements in essential services often enable broader benefits—such as allowing families to return to country, easing pressure in town, and creating a stronger foundation for other initiatives.

We collaborate with other organisations where possible and aim to keep all community development efforts respectful, culturally informed, and locally driven.
